Club championship races kick-off for Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners

More than 1,200 competitors, including 35 from Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners (GFDR), took part in the Hatfield Broad Oak 10km road race on Monday.
The figure of eight course allowed spectators to cheer on runners three times, at the start, middle and end of the race.
The race was won by Edward Shepherd of Woodford Green Athletic Club in 32 minutes 13 seconds.
The event was the first of this year’s club championship races for GFDR.
Finishing 23rd in 36:33, Steve Read led home GFDR’s men, followed by Dan Reynolds (37:54), Paul McKenna (38:16), Matt Webster (38:50), Alistair Brown (39:38) and Sean Henderson in a pb of 41:0s. Ian Lawson finished in 43:08, ahead of Martin Jackson (43:54), Jason Wintin (44:08) and Chris Hayhow (44:41).
There were personal bests for Jason Bepey (44:15), John Smith (45:39) and Simon Singleton (45:23).
David Kelsey (45:33) beat Colin Jackson (45:50), Gerard Geurts (46:11), Richard Robertson (48:45), Stuart Adams (51:33), James Bussell (52:49), Gavin Foster (54:15) and Simon Pomfret (1:1:27).
Kerry Harrington, in 45:47, was the fastest GFDR’s woman, followed by Pru Hayhow (45:58) and Gillian Robertson in a pb of 46:09.
Jules Adams and Hayley Smith both finished in 49:12.
Hayley Morley, in a pb of 51:10, finished ahead of Tara Corbett (51:13), Angela Thorpe (52:57) and Rosalind McKenna (57:41).
There were pbs for Debbie Stares (55:22), Henrietta Butcher (56:45), Glenda Jackson (56:51) and Lauren Bowen (59:24).
GFDR will be holding a nine-mile trail race from The Black Lion, High Roding, on June 12.
