Dunmow has won a county championship for the first time in its 90-year history.
The town’s bowling club went to Westcliff-on-Sea last Saturday and returned to its St Edmunds Lane base with the county triples cup.
The winning trio of skipper Martin Spencer, Graham Easterbrook and Peter Maynard played in a close game against Larsen Bowls Club of Waltham Abbey until pulling away towards the end of the match winning by 17-9.
The successful threesome will now represent Essex at the national championships at Worthing, Sussex, on September 18.
