Saffron Walden Ladies II 3 Hertford II 1

A depleted Saffron Walden seconds moved to the top of the table after a battling performance against Hertford on Saturday.

Missing several key players, Walden had to reshuffle the team and started with Rebecca Burton playing in goal.

Hertford started the brighter side and could have been 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes had keeper Burton and Lorna Charge not cleared their lines.

Eventually Walden found some form and Kate O'Sullivan opened the scoring from a short corner that was won after a good run from Zoe Bull.

Shortly before half-time Sophie Fry chased down a ball and dribbled it into the D and scored from an acute angle.

In the second half Walden pushed forward looking for further goals with Clair Pearce combining well with Sophie Thomas down the the right wing and Gabby Biland unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet with a good save from the Hertford keeper.

Hertford always looked dangerous on the break and Nikki Bailey was unable to prevent Hertford pegging a goal back.

Skipper Lindsay Wilson asked her young team for a last effort and eventually Suzanne Holmes scored the decisive third goal for Walden after good work from Mollie Brooks.

Dunmow 3 Havering IV 0

Dunmow had to dig deep to defeat a resolute Havering side on Saturday.

Dunmow started strongly, producing several short corners, but Havering's defence proved too strong to secure a goal.

The second half resumed at the same pace, with strong defence from Emma Marshall, Carlyh Luckin and Vicki Allen preventing Havering breaking through.

Dunmow took the lead when good play between Jemma Smith and Posy Rollit-Mason ended with Charlotte Osborne scoring.

A strike by Helen Burlend for Dunmow was then saved by the Havering keeper, but immediately swept in by Jemma Smith to increase Dunmow's lead.

Posy Rollit-Mason made a great run into the D and passed to Burlend who struck the ball cleanly into the goal to seal another convincing victory for Dunmow Ladies.
