Barnston travelled to Broomfield with a make-shift team due to the unavailability of several regular players and slipped to a disappointing defeat on Saturday.
With Broomfield kicking down the slope in the first half of their Essex Olympian League Division Two clash, their long ball tactics paid off with them scoring twice before the break.
Nigel Warren and Steve Andrease were on target to give the hosts a healthy half-time advantage.
Barnston failed to open up the home defence in the second half and John Eastaugh in the Barnston goal was the busier of the goalkeepers, pulling off several good saves. However, he was finally beaten when Dan Parkinson stabbed the ball into the net allowing a goalmouth scramble.
On Saturday, Barnston host Shenfield with the reserves away at Sandon Royals.
