Barnston slipped to a home defeat against Westhamians on Saturday in the Essex Olympian League Division Two after a wasteful appearance in front of goal.
Barnston had a decent first half, but had only one goal to show for all their good approach work. The goal came on 20 minutes when Graeme Turner received the ball wide on the right and cut inside, beat his marker, drew the keeper and shot into the far corner of the net.
Poor finishing from the hosts meant they went in at the break with a narrow advantage.
The second half was completely different as a Westhamians' onslaught on the home goal resulted in three goals in six minutes all from Charlie Liddiard for a quick hat-trick, the same player scoring a fourth late on.
Barnston visit Runwell Hospital on Saturday.
