BARNSTON AFC finished their first season in the Essex and Suffolk border league first division in eighth place and have completed their club awards evening to celebrate.

In a decade the club has moved from finishing the league season with ONE solitary point to this year accumulating 46 – the largest haul in ten seasons.

First team manager Leighton Williams said: “Remembering where we were 12 just months ago, it is a fantastic effort by all involved to take the club to eighth place, and an even better achievement to have been chasing promotion up until the end of January.

“Now the season is over it can be announced that this was the best season for the first team for a very long while, please see the points total for the last decade.”

The reserve’s season has also been a great success. They finished in sixth place in the Reserve Section first division, and were only six points off of the second promotion place.
