One of the regular fixtures on the Aythorpe Roding calendar is their Whit Monday clash with London-based works side ABRAC.
The all-day game would start at 11.30am, ahead of the Aythorpe Roding village fete commening at the pavilion end of the ground at 2pm.
This would continue during the match, ensuring a good crowd would turn up to support both events.
And a spokesman said: “You could walk around the fete, not thinking the ball would be flying over the boundary for a six.
“The pitches were not quite so good in the 1960s as they are now, plus the grass on the outfield was a little bit longer, so not so many high scores.”
