Former Hertfordshire Mavericks star Lindsay Keable has announced her retirement from the Netball Superleague - to focus on her role at Felsted School.

Keable made over 250 appearances in the premier level in the country for the likes of Bath, Celtic Dragons and most recently London Pulse, as well as the Hatfield-based Mavs.

But having spent the last eight years balancing playing the sport with her role leading the development of netball at Felsted, she has now decided to focus full-time on being head of netball at the Essex establishment.

She will, however, coach part-time at Pulse’s academy.

"It’s been a whirlwind," she said. "I was spotted for England at the age of 16 and have loved every minute of it since.

"Of course it has been an honour to represent my country, but I have also appreciated the friendship and support of every team-mate over the years.

"Women’s sport is becoming so much more professional, not just netball but other sports too.

"There are so many opportunities for girls now and we have a duty to share our passion with them and show them how they can get the most out of sport, whether as a career, or just as part of a healthy active lifestyle, playing for fun."
