SAFFRON Walden Rugby Club seconds completed the double on Saturday with a 20-10 victory over Newmarket seconds in the Green King Cup final at Ely.
Walden took the lead after 12 minutes when centre Mark Kimberley used his pace on the overlap to go over in the corner.
Newmarket were hit on the break after 22 minutes as Kimberley scooped up a loose ball and outpaced the full-back and touched down in the corner to put Walden 10-0 up.
After 35 minutes Nick Dawson slotted a penalty from 25 metres to stretch Walden's advantage to 13-0 at the break.
Walden extended their lead early in the second half when scrum-half Felix Harris spun the ball back out wide for left winger Saff Koen to go over in the corner and Dawson kicked the conversion.
Newmarket hit back with two unconverted tries, but Walden held firm in the closing stages to see out the victory which gave the team a deserved league and cup double.
