AN EXCELLENT performance with the ball saw Dunmow U15s gain an unlikely 10-run victory in a low-scoring game at Stansted.
Dunmow won the toss and chose to bat first. Ben Jolliffe (20) was the mainstay, assisted by Alistair Chaplin (11) and Charlie Roberts (11), while Richard Mclintock’s 14 not out proved crucial as Dunmow were all out for 98 off the last ball.
Dunmow dismissed both openers with only four runs on the board.
Although Stansted rallied, the turning point came when Mclintock (3-19) and George Webster (3-20) ripped through the middle order with five wickets falling in three overs.
With Stansted nine down and 10 runs short, Webster forced the last batsman to chip the ball straight to Sam Bullock at mid-off to give Dunmow a deserved victory.
