FLITCH Crono members took part in the Century Road Club time trial on Saturday evening in cool, windy conditions.
With 32 of the 60 entrants electing not to compete, Flitch Crono fielded a full team of three riders. The Dunmow cycling team’s challenge was headed by Murat Ozdenya whose time of 20min 48sec on the 10-mile A10 course in Hertfordshire saw him finish in fifth. Nick Green finished 17th with 21min 38sec, followed by Andy Page 21min 40sec.
Earlier, the Veteran Time Trial Association event saw Bill Broadfield shave even more time off of his recent 25-mile PB, his 58min 54sec time giving him 31st position.
Dave Bradnam faced a strong cross wind and frequent heavy showers in the Maldon and District 10-mile Steeple based event. The entry was boosted by ex-Maldon rider Alex Dowsett who now rides for Lance Armstrong’s Trek Livestrong professional team. Dave’s time of 23min 58sec gave him 14th, with Dowsett winning the event in a course record time of 19min 51sec.
Dave was back in action on Sunday in the Kent Cycling Association 100-mile event. He finished in 4hr 52min 55sec, a good time considering he raced the previous afternoon as well as twice in the middle of the week leading up to the event.
