THE cold weather over the Easter weekend didn’t deter runners from 18 clubs taking part in the annual Egg-stravaganza of four trail races, in which competitors follow written instructions.
The race on Friday at Heybridge offered a choice of distances - 7 and 13 miles. On Saturday the action moved to the hills at Little Baddow for an 11km race. Felsted was the venue on Sunday, for a 7-mile trail, with the final event of the series being a 6-mile race at Purleigh on Monday.
Each event attracted more than 100 runners. Representing Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners, Katia Jardine took part in three races and her husband Howard and Lee Prowse in two.
Eight members of the club ran the local trail at Felsted, organized by Howard Jardine. Fastest was Steve Downing, followed by Lee Prowse, Joe Dilworth and Charlotte King. John Hardy finished with Simon King just ahead of Sandra Smith and Richard Percy.
Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners will be holding a 5-mile road race at Great Easton on June 9.
