Braintree Town Irons 3 Dunmow United Pumas 7

With two new debutants and without their regular goalkeeper, the Pumas dug in with a hard working team performance and some clinical finishing to keep their League Cup hopes alive.

Ben Clarke got them off to a dream start with a stunning left foot shot from outside the penalty area in the opening minute and despite several opportunities to increase their lead, a combination of fine goalkeeping and spurned chances saw United go into the break with a narrow advantage.

The second half began in almost identical fashion with a wonderful finish from George Coates to double the lead. This sparked a goal avalanche. Coates add a further four goals to his tally with Louis Claridge adding a seventh.

Dunmow Rhodes Tigers 0 Broomfield Fire 0

Rhodes first game for two months saw them visit Broomfield in the League Cup. In a game effected by difficult conditions the Rhodes defence of James Claydon and Ryan Clancy worked hard to keep Broomfield from taking the lead in the first half.

Rhodes started to press hard in the second half to open the scoring. Louis Leaning and Scott Williamson moved the ball well and created some good opportunities. However, Rhodes couldn’t make the break through in a very tight game.

Broomfield Thunder 0 Flitch Youth Blues 8

After 10 weeks without a game Flitch quickly made up for lost time! It only took 20 seconds for the first chance to come along Harry Bowley burst in to the box and was brought down by a Broomfield defender. The spot kick was converted by Leon Roelleke.

Harry Bowley made it 2-0 four minutes later from a precision George Gilbert through ball. Luke Smith fired home the third before Bowley grabbed his second of the ha,e.

Broomfield fought hard for the rest of the half producing three great save from Flitch keeper James Mitchell.

The second half also belonged to Flitch. Bowley completed his hat-trick, Smith scored the sixth before Kasib Chowdhurry added numbers seven and eight to cap a great all round team performance.

Dunmow Rhodes Lions 2 Rayne Youth 4

After a six week break Dunmow Rhodes Lions got back to league action at the Dunmow Recreation Ground on Sunday.

Rayne took the lead midway through the first half but drew level when Sam Duberry latched on to Dominic Roles’ pass and fired into the net. Rayne hit a second goal just before half time.

Both teams went for more goals in the second half. Zak Jagathesan coverted a penalty to make ot 2-2, but Rhodes then gifted Rayne town goals.
