DANIEL Rowlandson and Daniel Rouse were both on target as Crocus recorded another win in their mini revival.

Crocus have now taken 13 out of the last 15 points as they start to pull away from the relegation zone.

The visitors were well worth the win and with some better finishing could have increased the final score.

With the both teams meeting just before Christmas, where a last minute goal from Daniel Rouse saved a point, Crocus where hoping to go one better with a win.

The game kicked off with both teams probing each other's back line and despite a shaky start from the Crocus in the first quarter, they soon started to make chances.

With 25 minutes on the clock Crocus looked to have taken the lead after a great run into the box by Alec Barnfather, who slid the ball past the keeper, who went down taking the Crocus striker with him. To the amazement of everyone the referee disallowed the goal.

As the game progressed Crocus were playing well and it looked like it would be just a matter of time before the Linton goal would be breached. But as the minutes ticked by, combined with the fact that the home keeper was having a good game, this might not be the case.

However, on the stroke of half time, a great determined run into the box saw Rowlandson hold off several challenges, including the keeper, to slam the ball home from a tight angle, to deservedly put the Crocus in front.

A good second-half performance saw the Crocus look fairly comfortable without putting the game beyond Linton's reach, with them now playing some good, flowing football.

An example of this on 52 minutes saw a great ball played through to Rowlandson, who went on a surging run into the box, and was subsequently brought down for a penalty kick.

Up stepped Rouse to convert with aplomb.

Linton came back with a few raids into the Crocus half gaining some corners, but the well marshalled back line held firm.

Crocus played the game out could have scored more, Paul Finan being very unlucky to see a fine shot strike the upright in the 85th minute.

n Crocus face a stern test this Saturday when they travel again, to in-form Steeple Morden, who currently lie in third place.
