A 17-YEAR-OLD male from Dunmow was taken to hospital with a serious head injury on Saturday (October 17) following an incident on the B1256 near Stebbing. Officers from Dunmow road police unit were called at 7.30pm to the B1256 near the junction with Bramble Lane where a Ford Ka, travelling towards Great Dunmow, appears to have lost control after a manoeuvre to avoid another vehicle, left the carriageway and ended up several metres into a field.

The driver had minor injuries. His passenger, also 17 from Braintree, was ejected from the car. He was taken to Broomfield Hospital and was detained with serious concussion.

Police closed the road for three hours while officers conducted the investigation and appeal to any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Dunmow RPU on 0300 333 4444.
