DUNMOW'S youth festival attracted more than 1000 youngsters to its event this year, which kicked off at noon on Saturday.

Crowds were kept entertained by six local bands and disc jockeys, a local dance group, climbing wall, monster-box bus and an inflatable speed goal machine.

Also proving very popular was a five-a-side football match, organised by the community sports centre's outreach workers, in which 11 teams took part.

Gaynor Bradley, Uttlesford District Council's leisure manager said: "It was a very pleasant and relaxed afternoon. Thanks to the extensive support we got for the event it all ran very smoothly.

"The youngsters were very well behaved too."

Police, fire, paramedics and St John Ambulance crews were all present too and were able to talk to youngsters and answer any questions they had about their services.
