President, Margaret Stevenson, welcomed everyone to the May meeting. The group reminisced on the Roothings Spring Group meeting held at Matching, where Penny Pavitt won first prize for her 70th birthday card in the competition. Dorothy Gray, WI advisor, gave members assistance with the resolution to be debated at the National AGM in June at the Royal Albert Hall, which is to urge the Government to stop the closure of community hospitals. The competition for 'A vase of Spring flowers' was won by Shirley Baskerville. The club's next meeting will be on Wednesday June 6 at 2.15pm with 'Laughter in the Village' by speaker Bob Jones. The club is also holding an open meeting on Wednesday, June 13 at 7.30pm when Andrea Hatfield will demonstrate how to produce a hanging basket and container planting.
