The president, Brenda Scraggs, welcomed everyone to the meeting and explained that Ann Jones, treasurer, had been in hospital and a card and flowers would be delivered to her tomorrow. Birthday posies had been prepared for Sue Adams, Mary Jensen, Carole Stanton and Barbara Turner.

The speaker this month was Jay Ainge, wife of the Vicar of St Mary's Church, Great Dunmow and the subject was 'Faith in Action', a charity which she has been involved with since 1986. Her enthusiasm for the charity was very evident and her talk was beautifully illustrated with colourful slides. George and Marion Mills have requested soap powder, soap and toilet rolls fort the Ukraine. These should be taken along to the February meeting. There will be an outing of 'Tastes of Anglia' at Chilford Hall, Linton on Saturday, March 10. The speaker at the County Annual Meeting at the Brentwood Centre on March 9 will be Edwina Currie. The competition winner was Margaret Watson and runner-up Carole Stanton. The raffle winners were Pat Jarvis, Chris Atkins and Sue Adams. The Flitch Group meeting is on April 17 and the competition is to 'Make a Rabbit'. Various patterns are available. The next meeting is on Wednesday February 14, when the speaker will be Linda Culleton on the subject of Acupuncture. The competition is for a pincushion. Meetings are held in the Talberd Room of the Foakes Hall on the second Wednesday of the month and begin at 7.45pm. New members and visitors are always made very welcome.
