MORE than 60 pupils from Dunmow and surrounding areas joined with world acclaimed jazz musicians to perform a concert at the Gardens of

Easton Lodge last week.

Liberation Song was the culmination of a two-month long project that encouraged the children and teachers from

Dunmow St.Mary's Primary, Great Easton Primary and Helena Romanes Secondary School to develop an awareness of music from Africa, the Caribbean and South America and to expand their experience through learning, creating and performing.

Claude Deppa, British-resident South African

trumpeter and event organiser, said: "I am delighted at how well everything went.

"I loved working with the children and thought they came through like troopers and did fantastically well.

"The only way to describe it is to say 'we had styles from all over the world and smiles from all over the Garden.' Hope we can do this again some time.

"I know it took a lot in setting up, but what a show.
