A WEDDING venue has decided to ban fireworks from celebrations taking place in its grounds.

Spains Hall Stables, a Grade II listed property in Finchingfield, has made the move to recognise the inconvenience and disturbance that fireworks can cause to local residents.

Tim Ruggles-Brise, owner of Spains Hall Stables, said: "However appealing the prospect of fireworks by the lake may be, we are aware of the disturbance that they would cause to those living nearby.

"If you hear fireworks in Finchingfield, you can rest assured that it isn't us!"

Essex County Council's Simon Walsh welcomed the move.

"It's always good to hear about businesses taking the concerns of their community to heart," he said.

"When it comes to fireworks, I'm sure local people will appreciate the consideration being shown by Spains Hall Stables in this respect.
