There were wedding bells ringing in Felsted earlier this week, but not at the church.

Pupils from Felsted Primary School put on their best suits on dresses for a pretend wedding day, with the bride being given away by headteacher, Lawrence Garside.

The idea came about after the foundation stage reception children spent time learning about different wedding traditions and festivities.

The school even roped in the help of local vicar Rev Colin Taylor to perform the ceremony, which was also attended by parents.

During the wedding, the bride was accompanied by three bridesmaids wearing blue, and was escorted to the ceremony by a trusty chauffeur.

Afterwards, a breakfast, which was made by the children, was held before they performed the story of The Scarecrows’ Wedding, with characters wearing marvellous hats for the special day.

Creations included bright pink ribbons, painted blue rims and some were even metallic.
