A national youth achievement award to encourage young people to explore outdoors and expand their personal development has been launched at Forest Hall School in Stansted.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award gives young people a chance to enjoy the outdoors, build resilience and understand teamwork.
Forest Hall School in Stansted is giving students an opportunity to start working towards the Bronze Award.
Years 9 and 10 have met with the DofE’s field officer via video call.
The meeting discussed alternative ways to meet the physical, skills and voluntary aspects of the award.
Students are making wallets, doing strength training, beekeeping and touch-typing.
They will provide evidence of their work during lockdown with written statements, photos and videos to qualify for the award.
Sarah Power from Forest Hall said: “We want some normality for our children.”
The award culminates in an expedition, which will be completed once restrictions are lifted.
