Village ball to benefit charities

AFTER a break of a number of years Finchingfield is to host its own village charity ball.
The formal dinner and dance, which was sold out within a month of tickets being made available, will include a three-course meal, and music from swing band 'In The Mood'.
The owners of The Stables, Spains Hall, one of Essex's premier wedding and function venues, have waived their usual hire charge in support and all the proceeds will go to the CREAMER Fund, Finchingfield Primary School PTA, the Pre-School and Finchingfield Cricket Club.
The Red Lion in Finchingfield has agreed to sponsor the event and the Broadcast's sister magazine Essex Life will be covering the event for inclusion in a forthcoming edition.
A request for promises for an auction has attracted support from individuals from within the village, local businesses and sporting bodies.
BAA Stansted has also agreed to provide a jeroboam of champagne for a special raffle.

Damon Knight, chairman of Finchingfield Cricket Club and a member of the organising committee, said: "With such a splendid response from our supporters and the community of Finchingfield the ball promises to be a wonderful event.
"Our supporters have been generous and we look forward to raising a substantial amount for village charities.
