A Great Bardfield couple who won an episode of Couples Come Dine With Me have their sights set on conquering another TV favourite - Gogglebox.
Kellie and Scott Forbes achieved a score of 30 when they appeared on the popular TV show, defeating two other Essex couples, with their impressive steaks and key lime pie.
So what is it really like to be part of Couples Come Dine With Me? Kellie and Scott dished the dirt to the Broadcast….
“It does take over your life for the whole week,” Scott, who runs sports activities for children, said.
Show honchos came to Kellie and Scott’s home before they were chosen and the couple were only told they had been selected 10 days before filming began.
You wouldn’t know it from watching the episode but the couple served their dessert at midnight and were up into the small hours every night, before going to work the next day.
There is a lot of waiting around while the meals are prepared and pictures are taken, with one crew member staying with the guests to make sure no underhand scoring was taking place.
Displaying impressive co-ordination skills on the show, Kellie juggled limes and then threw one to Scott, who kicked it back to Kellie, who caught it.
Although the couple achieved this feat in one take, they had to re-do it 18 times, in order for the crew to get the correct camera angle.
“They ended up using the first shot anyway,” said Kellie.
Mild drama occurred when it emerged glamorous rival couple, Stuart and Jamie, were also serving steaks and key lime pie, the evening after Scott and Kellie’s dinner party, in what became known as the ‘steak off’.
Kellie, 48, and Scott, 42, shrugged off the extra competition, however: “We didn’t mind, I didn’t think they would beat us,” Kellie said.
The couple admit the TV crew did feed them questions and tried to get them to say certain things about other contestants.
Scott and Kellie were awarded £1,000 in prize money which they put towards a holiday in Cyprus. However, for them it wasn’t about the money.
“As the night goes on you start to really like the people. We didn’t care who won,” they said.
So what is next for the couple? Kellie plans to apply to appear on Gogglebox. Scott, however is less keen.
“I think I would crawl out of the cat flap,” he adds.
