Two people have been jailed for six weeks after admitting stealing duty free items from Stansted Airport.

Ivan Garcia, 36 from Belham Road, Peterborough and Ana Silva, 29, of the same address, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on March 20, and admitted stealing sunglasses, watches, perfumes and aftershaves worth over £3,000 on March 3.

Airport officers were alerted by staff from World Duty Free that a woman had stolen some sunglasses. Silva was found and searched but the goods were not found. After viewing CCTV they identified Garcia who was arrested aboard an aircraft waiting to depart. All of the stolen items were recovered and the pair were charged.
