Tractor and two tonnes of hay catches fire at Great Dunmow

A tractor which was carrying two tonnes of hay caught on fire on the B1256 at Great Dunmow yesterday afternoon (August 14).

Five fire crews, including one each from Dunmow and Thaxted, were called to tackle the blaze at 4.11pm.

Firefighters had to remove hay from the back of the trailer while fighting the flames, and the fire was extinguished at 7.58pm.

Crews remained at the incident scene to carry out further safety checks.
