ESSEX Police is urging parents not to buy toys guns for children this Christmas amid fears that they could be challenged by real armed police units.
A Christmas campaign is set to be launched this coming Thursday (December 3) and police are targeting parents and children across the county with a clear message not to buy imitation weapons or toy guns.
A spokesman said: "Police are urging parents not to buy their children any more toy guns or imitation weapons as presents as fears are increasing that youngsters may be challenged at real gunpoint by armed police."
