HUNDREDS of pounds have been raised by the 1st Roding Brownie group in memory of a past member.

Almost 900 was made at a fair on Saturday and will be put towards a memorial fund to honour Katie Green, who died suddenly at Rodings Primary School in October, aged 7.

Katie, who suffered from Spinal Muscular atrophy, became a popular member of the group and it was the girls who made the unanimous decision to raise cash in her memory.

Face painter Rebecca Freeman had one of the busiest stalls on the day. She said that everyone had been very busy during the day and it was great to see money coming in for a great cause.

There will also be another event on Tuesday night at Leaden Roding village hall when a pampering party will be held from 8pm.
