FELSTED Preparatory School headteacher Jenny Burrett took the time to thank television programme The Vicar of Dibley for inspiration this week.

As her pupils took part in activities celebrating their beloved pets, Mrs Burrett said she was referring to an episode of the BBC One sitcom, starring Dawn French as vicar, Geraldine Grainger, where a church service is held for pets.

She said: "Through caring for pets the pupils learn to think of and care for others, show warmth and love, take responsibility, be patient and compassionate and active and know the importance of always having a loyal friend to turn to.

"I would like to thank the Vicar of Dibley for her constant inspiration and indeed all the Felsted families for their support."

During the special week the pupils brought in family pets including hamsters, guinea pigs, chickens, rabbits, lambs, dogs, cats and a snake.
