THE smell of coffee and cakes filled The Maltings in Great Dunmow on Tuesday morning.

The Friends of Great Dunmow Maltings organised the coffee morning in the Mill Lane building from 10.30am to noon.

The proceeds of £194 will go to the upkeep of the Maltings, which date back to the 16th century.

As well as refreshments, people could enjoy a raffle and bring-and-buy stall in the restored building.

"Last year's was a success, but this year's was even more successful," said organiser and Friends trustee Cynthia Barber. "Many thanks to all those who came along.
