THREE students from the Helena Romanes School Sixth Form are taking part in the Essex leg of a national battle of the bands competition.

The band, known as The 27 Club, is one of five selected from 17 bands from live auditions throughout the county.

The band members are Martyn Nash, 16, from Dunmow, Boaz Yehezkel, 17, from Dunmow, and Tom Bardsley, 16, from Thaxted.

They will now be competing in a live final tonight (Friday April 25) at Eastwood Studio Theatre, Leigh-on-Sea.

Should they go on to win then surely fame beckons as the group will have a recording session at the world famous Maida Vale Studios, where BBC radio one present "live lounge" from. They will also gain subsequent air play on BBC radio Essex.

The band said they were very excited and very pleased to get to the final but they would love to go all the way. See how they got on by reading the Dunmow Broadcast next week.
