More than 400 student from the Helena Romanes School set off on a sponsored walk in fancy dress, on Friday, to remember a pupil.

It was the fifth annual walk held for Abigail Cohen-Rumbold, who died of a brain tumour in July 2009. She was 13 years old.

The money raised is going towards CLIC Sargent, Farleigh Hospice and projects around the school.

Tony James, student voice co-ordinator, said: “Despite the muddy conditions, more than 400 runners set off in the morning and the whole school took part in the walk in the afternoon.

“The students really entered into the spirit of the event, raising hundreds for charity. We have also received donations from the community including £75 from FH Nash Ltd.”
