Campaigners fighting Stansted airport expansion plans have accused its supporters - which include business and tourism bodies - of orchestrating 'project fear'.

The East of England 'cannot afford' to block Stansted airport's expansion plans with Brexit looming, a big-hitting business lobby group has warned.

Two days before D-Day, on June 4, 1944, an American bomber plane carrying six men crashed into farmland just after taking off from Stansted Airport, then known as Royal Air Force Stansted Mountfitchet.

Stansted Airport boss Ken O'Toole is hopeful that under Boris Johnson's Government, plans to reduce the Stansted Express journey time to 30 minutes or less can progress.

Volunteers from Stansted Airport spruced up the Gardens of Easton Lodge on August 8.


A campaign group opposed to the proposed expansion at Stansted Airport has called on district councillors to "convert words into deeds" by turning down an application to increase a cap on passenger numbers.


A former airport taxi driver and his wife have been convicted of perverting the course of justice after she falsely admitted speeding offences to stop him being disqualified.
