THERE wasn't a seat spare in Dunmow's Foakes Hall for a classical concert in aid of the Mayor's Charity Community Fund on Friday night.

Topping the bill was vocal duo Imagine Jack who performed several sets of well-known classical hits.

Lauren Headley, a student at the Helena Romanes School, performed twice between the sets of the headlining act.

Great Dunmow mayor Cllr Frank Silver, said: "It was a wonderful evening and I was bowled over by the high quality of both of the acts.

"I thought it was as good as anything I have done in the past, it was pure quality."

Throughout the evening the audience was enthralled, most of them finding it difficult not to start to sing along.

At the end of the evening, the crowd of more than 100 people gave the performers

a standing ovation - something Cllr Silver says he has rarely seen.

He was particularly impressed by the vocal talents of Miss Headley who sang a variety of show tunes and light-listening numbers.

"Although she is still quite young, there is no doubt that she has an amazing amount of talent and I am sure that if she carries on she will be a great success," he said.
