RESIDENTS at a Dunmow care home rolled up their sleeves to get involved with a Bupa initiative.

The health care providers, supported by The Prince’s Trust, launched Community Crops last month and residents at the Bupa-run Croft House Residential and Nursing Home, in Braintree Road, took up the challenge by organising a sow and grow afternoon.

The Cubs of First Dunmow Tigers volunteered their time to lend a hand with the vegetable plot, and residents planted herbs, tomatoes, sweet peppers and courgettes in planters on the terrace.

Activity co-ordinator, Martine de Carnys, said: “The sunshine stayed with us throughout, contributing to a much enjoyed afternoon in the fresh air. Everyone is now watching their own plants for signs of something to taste on their plates.”
