A SELECTION of Sixth Form musicians at Felsted School provided an audience of parents, staff and pupils with an evening of musical entertainment to raise money for the Down's Syndrome Association (DSA). The concert, organised by head boy Chris McLeod, allowed the Upper 6th a final chance to perform solo items before they leave at the end of the term, and the Lower 6th to continue to enhance their performing abilities.

Raising £1000 in total, the concert encompassed a range of different styles from piano and oboe duets to string and vocal groups and proved to be a great success with all items performed to a very high standard.

Head Boy Chris McLeod said: "Although hard work, I really enjoyed pulling together this concert, particularly as I know it will be hugely beneficial to the charity which continues to ensure that those with Down's Syndrome and their families can live the best life that they possible can."

Patricia James of DSA was particularly appreciative of Chris's efforts. She said: "The money raised by Felsted School will go towards our education programme which continues to enable individuals with Down's syndrome to have the same opportunities as your pupils. Currently 85 per cent of children with Down's syndrome are enrolled in mainstream schooling, but ensuring those opportunities with the right level of support and tools is ongoing. The DSA has a full time education advisor and provides assistance to family and schools.
