POLICE have been teaching children at Ford End Church of England Primary School how to keep safe during a safety and crime prevention week.

Inspector Cheryl Callow, and PCs Katie Body and Lucy Smith went into the school every day and the week was brought to a close when Insp Callow and her team electronically tagged the children's bikes.

She also presented the school with a £500 cheque to go towards replacing the school gates, which were stolen during the summer holidays last year.

"The children really enjoyed it," said school administrator Kerry Yates. "They have been going home and telling their parents all about it. It's made them much more aware of how to keep themselves safe.
