CLEVER students celebrated the best set of results their school has ever achieved at GCSE level.

There were plenty of smiles when pupils from The Helena Romanes School and Sixth Form Centre picked up their results today (Thursday August 21).

Headteacher Simon Knight said: "I am absolutely delighted with the results. The dedication and hard work of both the students and staff and the support of parents has culminated in this excellent set of results. The school continues to improve and I am confident of further success in the future."

At Helena Romanes 69.4 per cent of students achieved five or more A* to C grade GCSEs - an improvement of 10 per cent on last year's results. The overall pass rate was 92 per cent.

Individual students who did particularly are 16-year-old Hannah Bayliss from Halstead who scored eight A* grades and five A grades. Edward Graham, 16, from Dunmow achieved seven A* grades and three A grades. Liam Griffiths, 16, from Felsted was delighted with his seven A* grades, three A grades and one B grade. 16-year-old Peter Kukiewicz from Rayne scored three A* grades, six A grades and five B grades. And Paige Rabey, 16, from Little Dunmow achieved seven A* grades, three A grades and two B grades.
