PRAISE was heaped upon six dedicated volunteers who have amassed more than 100 years service between them.

The Royal British Legion held a special ceremony to celebrate members of the public who have given up their own time in order to sell poppies.

Chairman of the Dunmow branch of the RBL and poppy appeal organiser, Margaret Cole, presided over the meeting.

Morris Saich was awarded a pin to add to the medal he received five years ago for notching up 45 years helping the charity raise money for soldiers. Mary Jane Walbanke also received a brooch thanking her for 30 years of selling poppies on Oakroyd Avenue.

The RBL also handed out certificates to Shirley and Percy Holden and Jenny Green thanking them for 10 years of service. The charity’s Dunmow branch secretary George Weston also received a certificate for five years service.
