MEMBERS of Dunmow's Round Table have praised the public for their generosity after their latest collection raised in excess of £2000.

Santa's Sleigh ran from December 3 to 18 and toured roads, streets and lanes around Dunmow and Stebbing, and made a surprise visit to St Mary's Primary and Dunmow Primary School concerts.

Round Table spokesman Daniel Albon said: "This event is never meant as a large fundraising event and more as a treat for people in Dunmow to meet the one and only Santa Claus. But we are delighted to say that this year is our largest total in the last five years.

"It is a fantastic achievement and the money will be put towards some great local causes over the next few months."

He added: "We just want to thank the people of Dunmow for their generosity and of course thank the Essex FM Thunder Girls for assisting us on our rounds during some bitterly cold nights."
