More than a hundred people attended a supper and talk in Great Saling and raised more than £1,800 for the Dunmow RNLI. The event on Saturday, November 25, was held at the village's Millennium Hall and hosted by the Dunmow branch of the RNLI. The after dinner entertainment was an illustrated talk by Bill and Anita Miller on their circumnavigation of the UK in 2005. He recounted how, in a June, he and his wife had joined 30 other craft rally organised by the Cruising Association as part of the Trafalgar Bi-Centenary celebrations. Mr Miller recognised the great help the Stroke Association has been to him and his round Britain trip raised more than £14,000 in sponsorship for them. The Dunmow RNLI's next meeting is a 'Madeira Morning' on Sunday March 10, at 11am in Mill Cottage, Mill Lane, Felsted by kind permission of Mr and Mrs David Martin.
