ONE hundred people from Uttlesford will be walking 10km along the River Cam in Cambridge, to raise money to fight against breast cancer, on Sunday.
One in nine women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime, making it the most common women's cancer in the UK.
Ruth Fothergill from Uttlesford decided to take part in the walk being organised by Cancer Research UK when she saw it advertised in a magazine.
Mother-of-two Ruth, pictured right, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 47. She was referred to hospital, had the lump removed and went on a course of Radiotherapy.

When she turned 50 last year she made herself a list of things that she had never done but always wanted to do, including taking trips to New Zealand and Paris.
"Receiving a breast cancer diagnosis is devastating but normal life can resume. I have learned that you need to make the most of every day.

"Joining the walk was an expression of solidarity and an opportunity to raise awareness of the disease and the vital work of Cancer Research UK," she said.
