A FLOWER festival in Little Bardfield has raised �980 towards the restoration of the rarest organ in Essex.
During the bank holiday weekend at the end of August a wedding themed show was held at St Katherine's Church to help raise money for the Renatus Harris church organ which dates back to 1688.
Festival spokesman, Bill Edwards, said that the work is part of an ongoing project to completely refurbish the entire church.
He added: "The church has been completely restored internally and much external work has been carried out, though a good deal remains to be done and the tower is yet to be touched.
"In particular the altar, which was designed by G. F. Bodley who subsequently produced the high altar in St Paul's cathedral in London and many other churches and cathedrals, has been restored."
In addition the First World War memorial has also been restored. In total, over �300,000 has been raised and spent on restoration since 2003.
