The hot weather is set to cause more delays on the rails across East Anglia today Wednesday, June 21.
Speed restrictions are being imposed on train services by Greater Anglia to prevent rails from buckling in the heatwave.
A spokesman for the company said that lower speeds exert less pressure on the rails and also protect overhead lines which can sag in high temperatures.
•Why are trains cancelled when the weather gets too hot?As a result of the lower speeds, Greater Anglia has had to reduce the number of trains in service including those travelling between London Liverpool Street, Ipswich, Braintree, Witham and Clacton.
