YEAR two pupils at Felsted Preparatory School were fortunate enough to visit Braintree Museum as part of their study on the Victorian Era.

The seven year olds dressed up for the day as Victorian school children and were taught in a Victorian classroom.

They were able to handle genuine Victorian artefacts and were encouraged to guess what these were used for.

Lisa Feldman, teacher of the Year Two Fox Class said: "This was our first trip to Braintree Museum and we had a very special day.

"It really helped the children to understand what life was like all those years ago and how fortunate they are today.

"They are certainly pleased we do not use a dunce's hat or the cane at Felsted!"

The out of school lessons certainly helped to highlight to the children how different life was back in Victorian times.

Jane West, head of the Pre-Prep School, explained how the children had benefited greatly from the hands-on experience.

She said: "Educational visits are a valuable part of our curriculum and bring learning to life for pupils and teachers!
