AS a regular visitor to Tescos (and the other place, dear old Waitrose), I felt that this year there was something missing, notably at Radwinter Road.

I refer to the Salvation Army Band, who do such good work and add cheer to the prsence of everyone, including the other stalwart regulars like the Round Table.

It's possible I did happen just to miss them on one day. I did hear there was a 'rumpus' (or misunderstanding) about a year ago about Tescos having to restrict the time allotted for them to play.

If I'm wrong, I stand corrected. However I do hope that this is not some reflection of the popular new trend sweeping the country (to everyone's embarrassment and dismay), ie mass guilt and subservience to secularism . . . a new branch of the political correctness industry?

So let us celebrate 'Winterfest' and look forward to a new year and the coming battle of Burton End and victory over the empire of the BAA. As they say in the Police Station 'May the Force be with you'.
