POLICE swarmed across Great Dunmow's High Street on Tuesday afternoon (March 30) in a hunt for thieves who had stolen goods from a number of town centre shops.
Just after 2.30pm, four thieves, two men and two women, were reported to be carrying out distraction burglaries in jewellery and clothes shops such as Maggies Trinkets and Wardrobe.
The thieves are understood to have fled the scene after police were alerted and officers were still searching and interviewing people up and down the town centre at 3pm.
