Plans for 800 homes in Dunmow come forward
A MAJOR piece of the housing puzzle facing Great Dunmow goes on display next week.
London-based Land Securities has drawn up plans for 800 homes, community facilities, and open spaces on land to the west of the town. The houses, if approved, will form part of Uttlesford District Council’s Local Plan, which will see 1,150 homes built in the town over the next 15 years.
The proposals have the potential to make a “significant contribution” to Uttlesford’s housing numbers and create a “sustainable development with excellent links to existing services whilst also providing new facilities and open space”, said the developer.
Emma Cariaga, development director at Land Securities, said: “It is no secret that Uttlesford requires more housing land than is currently allocated, and the land west of Great Dunmow is a sustainable and well-connected location for new homes, associated community facilities and open space.
“We are keen to hear from local residents about the potential for development and our emerging proposals.

“We hope to see a good turnout at the exhibition so that we can gather feedback on the way forward for the site.”
The public exhibitions will be held at Dunmow St Mary’s Primary School on Friday December 7, from 6.30-9pm, and Saturday December 8, from 10am-4pm.
