TWO Little Canfield women have gone from good neighbours to good business partners after setting up their own cupcake enterprise together.
Harwynder Paddan and Samantha Perry, who both recently moved in to Miller Homes' Priors Green development, came up with the innovative idea of setting up their own business over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
They devised House of CupCakes, making, supplying and selling homemade cup cakes to the local community.
Ms Paddan said: "Having discovered a passion for cakes and also not being able to eat them as we are both dieting we thought it would be a good idea to set up cake company so we can still be near the cakes, but not actually eat them! A few months later we launched House of CupCakes."
To publicise their business, the pair leaflet-dropped in the neighbourhood and posted an advertisement on a message board on MyMillerStreet - a unique and innovative website set up by Miller Homes which enables residents to share information and learn about their local area.
Mrs Perry said: "We live in a new community in the making, and we have built up a really good client base. MyMillerStreet has been a great tool for us as it gave us direct contact with everyone in our community. In fact, a number of our neighbours actually place repeat orders with us.
"We mainly cater for small parties and we sell at a local farmer's market every month."
