Soldiers were joined by members of the public and local dignitaries to mark Remembrance Sunday in Great Dunmow.
The town fell silent for two minutes at 11am as those who served and fell for their country, in the two world wars and later conflicts, were honoured with a wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial.
A memorial parade then made its way to the United Reformed Church, on New Street, for a service.
A two-minute silence will also be held by the war memorial at 11am on Tuesday (November 11) to honour the exact anniversary of the armistice.
